GENERAL PROVISIONS:
1.1
This privacy policy (hereinafter – Policy) determines the procedure by which the World Maritime University (hereinafter – WMU) ensures the processing, safety and protection of data of participants and guests of the WMU Maritime Affairs Conference 2026, which will take place on 26-28 August 2026 at WMU at Fiskehamnsgatan 1, Malmö, Sweden (hereinafter – Conference).
1.2
The processing of personal data, which this Policy does not regulate, is determined by the United Nations Principles on Personal Data Protection and Privacy (available here: https://unsceb.org/principles-personal-data-protection-and-privacy-listing) and the WMU Privacy Policy (available here: https://www.wmu.se/privacy-policy).

For the Conference organization services, including services which include processing of personal data (for example, registration of Conference participants, photography and video recordings during the Conference), WMU has contracted TESS International, headquartered at STE 1005, Beongwon-ro 8-gil 7, Songpa-gu, Seoul, Branch STE 536, JM Building, Sasang-du, Busan, Republic of Korea

PURPOSES OF PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA: The purposes of processing personal data are as follows:
2.1
To ensure the registration and participation of Conference participants in the Conference and related statistical analysis afterwards;
2.2
To ensure the exchange of organizational and operational information with Conference participants, including obtaining feedback (evaluation) on the Conference;
2.3
To ensure publicity and promotion of the Conference or WMU activities in general, public awareness, photography and video recordings during the Conference, publication of photo and video materials on the Internet and social networks, as well as archiving of events.
3.
REGISTRATION OF CONFERENCE PARTICIPANTS:
3.1
A participant registers for participation in the Conference on the website www.wmu-maritimeaffairsconference.org, where he or she enters his or her personal data and confirms familiarization with this Policy.
3.2
When a participant arrives at the Conference, he or she is identified by first name and last name and given an entrance card.
3.3
WMU reserves the right to restrict or deny any person’s participation in the Conference.
4.
PERIOD OF COLLECTION AND STORAGE OF PERSONAL DATA:
4.1
Personal data is collected and further processed from the moment of the Conference participant's registration.
4.2
Personal data is stored and processed only to the extent and for the period necessary to achieve the purposes set out in this Policy.
5.
CONFERENCE PARTICIPANT’S CONSENT TO THE PROCESSING OF PERSONAL DATA:
5.1
By registering for the Conference, you confirm that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. Participation in the Conference requires the processing of your personal data.
5.2
WMU has the right to use the photo or video recording materials in whole or in part for the purposes set out in this Policy. The Conference participant is informed that WMU will freely exercise this right at its discretion and that WMU is also entitled to transfer this right to relevant third parties (for example, news agencies and sponsors of the Conference).
6.
CONFERENCE PARTICIPANT’S RIGHTS:
6.1
A Conference participant has the following rights:
6.1.1
Request from WMU at any time information about himself or herself; and
6.1.2
Request WMU to correct, erase or restrict the processing of his or her personal data.
6.2
A Conference participant may exercise his or her rights by sending an e-mail to: Conferences@wmu.se.
